A little history...in 1947, a pediatric polio clinic was founded by Square & Compass, a non-profit, tax exempt organization presently operated by a voluntary Board of Directors. Later it became the Square & Compass Crippled Children’s Clinic serving disabled and chronically ill children through the State of Arizona Crippled Children’s Services. In 1991, the Children’s Clinics was formed as a non-profit corporation by the Tucson Medical Center (TMC) and the University Medical Center (UMC). Square & Compass and the pediatric medical community of Tucson have joined with TMC and UMC to provide services to the disabled and chronically ill children of Southern Arizona who are medically eligible. Square & Compass owns the building which houses the Children’s Clinics and also spends thousands of dollars annually on medical services, hospitalization, supplies and equipment for children who do not have other resources to provide the services.
